Clemmons State Forest

Last weekend we went to the Clemmons State Forest park, in Clayton. It was a blast! We brought the doggie along, and he was in heaven with all the new stuff to smell. We walked around for a while, and then sat at the picnic table for some snacks, then walked down to the lake. We didn't take TOO many pictures, because we were having too much fun. Here's a little slideshow of the few we did take, and of course you can click the link to see the full size photo album.

While we were at the picnic table, we had some Ritz crackers and peanut butter. It didn't take long before we had some invaders trying to steal our food. Yvonne took a little video of all these ants actually moving two crackers with a layer of peanut butter. It is truly amazing how much weight they can move...

Well, that's it for now.

Fourth of July, 2007

The Fourth of July celebration in Clayton, NC was quite festive. There was a band, "The Extraordinaires" that had me dancing enough to embarrass Erin, which as a father is a full time job. I brought the camera just to see how pictures would turn out. There is a pretty neat setting called sports, that takes pictures every half second or so. The slideshow below is what came from the fireworks display. I thought it was worth a look, some of the consecutive shots are pretty cool, you can see the rocket shooting up, and then starting to explode all the way through the fade. I was impressed, since I wasn't even really watching the camera at all, I was just holding down the button. I did have to delete a few that were just too fuzzy, but I think overall it is a pretty cool collection.
